Kiwi Encounter is unlike any other attraction you may have visited.

It is a unique conservation centre which gives visitors to this attraction the opportunity to see kiwi conservation in action for the first time in New Zealand.

What you will see here is our efforts to stop the extinction of a species and it all happens before your eyes.

Four different areas within the building are linked together to form a superb tourism attraction based completely on kiwi conservation.

Get closer to nature and help save New Zealand's icon while you're at it. All proceeds go to the National Kiwi Trust which are then put back into research and kiwi recovery.

Guided tours operate every hour between 10am and 4pm and last for 45 minutes. Availability is strictly limited so advance bookings are recommended.

Highlights include seeing kiwi without the usual glass barrier - the kiwi on display in Kiwi Encounter are in an open nocturnal house, meaning you get the best view of kiwi available anywhere; and if you come during kiwi hatching season (September - April), you may even see a tiny kiwi chick hatch right before your eyes.
This is a world first - the only place you can get a behind-the-scenes glimpse at kiwi conservation in action!!
