Zorb Rotorua is the home of Zorb and described as the sport of rolling down a hill at speed inside a giant inflatable sphere. Andrew Akers and Dwayne van der Sluis, 2 kiwi guys, invented the Zorb to walk on water and play on the beach with. They realised with the first prototype that it was too tame and progressed to rolling down hills. Zorb is the next adventure activity from New Zealand the nation that developed Bungy Jumping. Zorb has been operating for 12 years and Rotorua is the only location you can experience Zorb in New Zealand.
This is an experience that everyone can enjoy, from the adrenalin junkie to those who normally shy away from any sort of physical activity. As you hurtle down a hillside get the feel of what it is like to be a ball from the inside! Zorb offers several different types of Zorb experience:
In the Zydro ride they add water into the Zorb so you can run, tumble or slide inside as you hurtle down the hill. This is great on your own, or with two or three people inside together.
Our new Zed Packs, containing t-shirt, shorts, towel and a bag to put it all in and take away with you after your Zorb experience, are available to purchase on-site. Or you are welcome to bring your own clothes to get wet in and towels. They have cool water in summer and warm water in winter! The Zydro ride is for anyone over 6 years and up to 130Kgs.
Try the Zig Zag track for those who are the more adventurous Zorbonauts, available to single Zydro riders only.
In the Zorbit ride you are safely harnessed inside the Zorb before being sent rolling head over heels downhill, feel the “G-Force”. This is for one person at a time and in the Zorbit ride you don’t get wet! The Zorbit ride has a minimum height requirement of 1.6 metres and maximum weight of 100Kgs.
There is a shuttle service available from the city centre. Departing from Tourism Rotorua every hour (except 1pm) from 9am to 5pm, 7 days a week.
