Our clients enjoy the scenery, culture, history and the beautiful environment of our New Zealand Rivers, including nature and wildlife with our friendly, professional guides.
We provide all transport, equipment and instruction and have a private river base with full amenities in Rotorua.
We provide all equipment except your personal swimsuit and towel. This includes a fleece, 5mm wetsuit, splash jacket, wetsuit booties, life jacket and a helmet. Our equipment is excellent quality, well maintained and is cleaned after every trip. We are Qualmark quality assured.
We cater for all skill, age (10yrs+) and confidence levels, offering four rafting (3 or 6 hour) and two sledging (3 or 4 hour) options and provide all transport, equipment and instruction.
We provide exclusive river excursions or experiences for tour groups, team building and incentive groups, school groups, social clubs, wedding groups, family and friends and Free Independent Travellers.
KAITUNA:
Rafting: Grade 5. Allow 3 hours (50 minutes on water).
A deep gorge lined with stunning native bush, the Kaituna boasts the highest commercially rafted waterfall in the world (7m) as well as 13 other fun rapids and waterfalls. This river is great for beginners or adrenalin seekers and is a must for all visitors and Kiwi’s alike.
Sledging: Grade 3. Allow 3 hours (1¼ hours on water).
You must be water confident and have a reasonable fitness level to tackle this extreme activity. You will have a purpose build sledge and flippers on your feet to manoeuvre yourself through the thrilling white water! This is not for the faint hearted.
AWESOME GORGE: Grade 4. Allow 4½ hours (1 hour on water). Lunch Provided.
This is an exclusive rafting excursion down an exclusive section of unbelievably beautiful river. Awesome Gorge (named by local kayakers) is an extremely narrow gorge completely surrounded by NZ’s untouched native wonders at their premium.
RANGITAIKI: Grade 4. Allow 6 hours (2 hours on water). Lunch Provided.
The Rangitaiki provides a longer, more relaxed afternoon on the water with some exciting rapids and beautiful NZ scenery including forest, farmland and native bush. Lunch is provided at the end.
WAIROA:Grade 5, only open 26 days a year. Allow 6 hours (2 hours on water). Lunch Provided.
The Wairoa is a full-on rafting experience down grade 4 and 5 water. This canyon is full of technical and thrilling rapids and waterfalls with huge boulders to negotiate. Don’t forget to check out the scenery!!

Open 365 days a year. Raftabout’s base is only 3 hours from Auckland, 1 hour from Taupo, Tauranga and Whakatane.
We can organise custom adventure packages including accommodation, Skydive, Bungy Jump, Swoop, Zorb, Jet Boat, Horse Ride, 4X4, Mountain Bike, Paintball, Dirt Bikes, Quad Bikes, Combat Action, the Swing, Luge and more. Raftabout also offer school and corporate team building and incentives packages.
